In addition to money, the Salvation Army accepts donations of vehicles, furniture, appliances, clothing and countless other household items.
Some items aren’t acceptable due to safety problems or legal restrictions, but the organization takes most household goods in usable condition.
Does Salvation Army take couches?
Charities accept furniture if it’s in decent shape—no broken parts or big rips or stains. The Salvation Army and some Goodwill programs provide pickup service, usually within 48 hours, and tax receipts. Linens: Goodwill and Salvation Army thrift stores accept towels, sheets, curtains, and such.

What items does goodwill not take?
Donations Goodwill CANNOT Accept
- Furniture that is covered in animal hair, broken, worn, torn, stained, or missing parts.
- Bean bag chairs.
- Sleeper sofas.
- Due to the Digital TV Transition, Goodwill will only take flat-screen tvs.
- Excessively large/bulky items such as swing sets, swimming pools, unbound carpeting, etc.

Does Salvation Army accept donations on Sunday?
All donations to The Salvation Army are tax deductable. Donations can be made at our retail store at 2688 Peters Creek Parkway. Please come around to the back of the store Monday through Saturday, 9:00am-6:00pm. We also may be able to provide free pick-up of large items or large loads of clothing.
Will Salvation Army take furniture?
Appliances and Furniture
The Salvation Army doesn’t accept any gas appliances. Wood furniture will be accepted if it’s in good structural condition without serious cosmetic flaws, but you can’t donate ready-to-assemble pressed-wood furniture.
